Q: In quiet moments, what does you mind think about? 

FIRST READ: Romans 8:5-11

Q: Those who are “dominated” by the flesh think about sinful things. Those who live “according to the Spirit” think about those things that please God. (vs. 5) Is this something we control? (READ Philippians 4:8) How can we turn our minds to think of things that are “excellent and worthy of praise?” What part do we play in this?

Q: People with their “mind set on the flesh” are spiritually dead. The “mind set on the Spirit” describes every Christian. What does it mean to have your “mind set on the flesh,” or “set on the Spirit?” What are the results of “letting the Spirit control you?” (vs. 6)

Q: Will our sinful nature ever make peace with God? Will our sinful nature ever desire the will of God? (vs. 7)

Q: In our natural state, is there anyway we can please God? What is it that pleases God? (vs. 8)
