Q: Do you ever struggle with shame and guilt? How does it feel to know that “now” there is no condemnation?
FIRST READ: Romans 8:1 & Luke 7:36-50
Q: The word “condemnation” refers to “the punishment that follows.” The literal translation of this word is “A damnatory sentence.” Do you feel that your life deserves a sentence like this? As a group, reference a verse or two regarding our sin and God’s penalty.
Q: READ: Luke 7:36-50. What was the attitude of the Pharisee in this story? The attitude of the woman? The attitude of Jesus?
Q: What was the purpose of the woman washing Jesus’ feet? (READ Mark 14:8)
Q: How important to Jesus is forgiveness? How much should we forgive those who offend us? (Luke 7:41-43) What other proofs are given of this woman’s devoted love for Jesus? (7:44-46)
Q: Why is the woman described as one who “loves much?” (7:47) What makes our love for Jesus possible? (7:47)
