True Peace
Luke 2:8-14
“True Peace”
This holiday season the Dailey family is traveling. We planned a trip to Eugene, OR for Thanksgiving. Which was a great time with our extended family. And for Christmas we will be heading to Dallas, TX. Though these are fun trips that we look forward to, they can become a bit tense and even stressful.
That’s the catch with life and what this world has to offer - things, even good things, take our peace. I’m a laid back person with a type B personality. I do my best to not allow negativity to bother me. However, I feel tension and get overwhelmed with life more often than I would like. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s peace gets stolen.
While the world offers unsatisfying, quick joy, Jesus offers eternal peace. In the narrative of Jesus’ birth, “peace on earth” is a proclamation of what is to come to those surrendered to Him. As we know, this doesn’t mean that externally all things will be peaceful. For there will be wars and rumors of wars. But what it means is that while this world goes crazy and remains in a constant state of stress, Jesus gives His followers internal, eternal peace!
I need more of this peace. We need more of His peace. Let’s gather and hear how He gives and how we receive peace on Sunday.
In Him,
Pastor Luke
